The Cabinet has granted the country approval to jointly host the seventh Africa Sanitation (Africasan) Conference with the African Ministers’ Council on Water.
The conference is slated for 6-10 November at Swakopmund.
This was resolved at the 13th Cabinet decision-making meeting on 15 August.
In a press statement on Thursday, government spokesperson Peya Mushelenga said the Cabinet has taken note of the estimated N$5 million required to host the conference.
Thus, the Ministry of Agriculture, Water and Land Reform has made a provisional budget for it.
“Cabinet further approved the availing and hiring of vehicles for ministers and very important persons as well as other cars for delegates from the government garage,” Mushelenga said.
He added that other vehicles will be rented from car hire companies for the transportation of delegates and participants.
“Cabinet has directed the Ministry of Home Affairs, Immigration, Safety and Security to facilitate the smooth issuance of entry [visas] to foreign delegates on arrival at Walvis Bay International Airport and Hosea Kutako International Airport,” he said.
According to Mushelenga, the Cabinet endorsed the Office of the President to assist with the accreditation of delegates.
The Ministry of International Relations and Cooperation is tasked to assist with the ministers and VIP protocol, while the Ministry of Health and Social Services will assist with medical care of ministers and delegates.
In addition, Mushelenga said, the Cabinet approved the gender Mk minister’s proposal for Namibia to host the regional celebration of the World Children’s Day on 20 November.
