Namibia Reaffirms Its Principled Support for the Legitimate Struggle of the Sahrawi People


Ms. Nandi-Ndaitwah Netumbo ; Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, reaffirmed her country’s principled support for the legitimate struggle of the Sahrawi people, stressing that Namibian people have also suffered from deprivation of their right to freedom, and therefore its position in support of the right of the Sahrawi people to self-determination and freedom is firm and enjoys the consensus of all political forces in the country.

This came during the meeting held yesterday between Mr. Mohammed Sidati, Member of the National Secretariat and Minister of Foreign Affairs, and the Namibian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of International Relations and Cooperation on the sidelines of the seventy-eighth regular session of the United Nations General Assembly, which began last Tuesday in New York.

During the meeting, the two ministers discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries, the latest developments in the Sahrawi issue and views regarding other issues of common interest.

The Sahrawi Minister of Foreign Affairs is accompanied during the work of the United Nations General Assembly session by Dr. Sidi Mohamed Omar, member of the National Secretariat, representative of the Polisario Front to the United Nations and coordinator with MINURSO, Mr. Brahim Mokhtar Boudjemaa, Ambassador in Charge of Asia; and Mr. Malainin Salama, advisor to the Polisario Front’s representation to the United Nations.
